Based in Edinburgh, with branches in Glasgow, London, Manchester and Guernsey, Adam and Company is the wholly owned private banking subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Scotland.  Like BAM, Adam is authorised and regulated by the FSA and has built its reputation on supplying a service that other financial institutions no longer attempt to provide.  Through a long-term association, BAM and Adam provide a personal approach that has almost vanished amongst larger institutions due to the growth of automation and anonymity.

Custodian Services  BAM suggests that it's Customers appoint Adam & Company as their custodian. Adam provides them with a secure nominee company as well as settling their investment transactions, collecting their dividends and dealing with corporate events such as Rights issues, Scrip issues and so on.  UK based clients are normally administered in Edinburgh whilst overseas clients are looked after in Guernsey.

Cash Accounts  Adam provide an Income and Capital account for each investment portfolio.  All dividends and interest are collected in the Income account and the Capital Account is used for sales and purchases and for holding cash on Deposit within portfolios – both accounts earn interest on credit balances.  When required, the Income account is used to distribute investment income.

Reports and Statements  Through BAM, Adam provide regular valuations and bank statements to its clients.  These reports detail progress of all investments as well as itemising all transactions undertaken for the portfolio, listing dividends and interest received, and expenses.  At the end of each tax-year, Adam provide BAM clients with a comprehensive year-end tax package itemising capital gains (including indexation and taper relief), interest and dividends received and other such information to simplify “Self-Assessment” tax returns.

PEPs and ISA Accounts  Adam are approved PEP/ISA managers and can be appointed by Customers, enabling BAM to provide investment management for new and existing PEP/ISA investments alongside conventional equity portfolios.  Valuations will include PEPs and ISA’s as well as more conventional investments so that all of a client’s investments can be monitored as a single portfolio.
