Michael Benson Joins Border Asset
Management
Michael Benson,
who has spent his whole career in the international investment asset management
industry and retired last year as Vice Chairman of AMVESCAP plc and Chairman of
INVESCO, has joined Border Asset Management
as a Non-Executive Director, thereby giving a clear vote of
confidence to the North of England fund management industry.
Border, which has offices in Harrogate and Kirkby Lonsdale, has grown steadily
in recent years, providing personalised investment services to a range of
private clients seeking quality portfolio management.
“For the first 20 years of my career I was involved with the management of
private client portfolios and spent nearly 17 of those years with Lazard
Brothers. Despite then moving on to senior management positions in other
international companies, I have always maintained a strong link with private
client activities and it is pleasing therefore to be returning to my roots by
joining Border Asset Management. While still a relatively small company, I am
attracted by the growth of their business over the past five years and the
obvious enthusiasm of the team. Border is refreshingly client focussed and is
dedicated to giving a very personal service to all its clients.”
Michael joined the AMVESCAP Group back in 1994, when he became CEO of the Group’s
far Eastern Operations. In 1997 be became CEO INVESCO Global and had
responsibility for all AMVESCAP's non US businesses, including operations in the
UK, Europe, the Far East and Latin America. In 2003 he became Vice Chairman of
the Group and Chairman of INVESCO.
Since leaving AMVESCAP Michael has moved to Yorkshire, while
still maintaining a number of interests in London. |
