Peter Lever (Chief Executive Officer)  was born in 1948.  Formerly an investment manager with both Rathbones and Gerrards, Peter has a family background within the stockbroking community in the North of England going back many generations.  He has extensive offshore management experience having worked for many years in the Isle of Man.  He was appointed a Director of BAM in 2004 and Chief Executive Officer in 2008 and lives in Yealand Conyers, Lancashire.

Robert Bell, FCA, FSI (Director) was born in 1950 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand in 1973. He joined Rowe & Pitman in 1975 where he worked with the institutional UK equity department and then the Fund Management team with specific responsibility for Far East markets. Following the merger with S G Warburg, he became a Director of Mercury Asset Management advising Japanese corporations on global equity investment strategy. He was a founding Director of BAM in 1989 and lives in Yorkshire.

Charles Cohen, BA (Director and Strategist)  was born in 1959.  After gaining a degree in Business Studies and spending 4 years in the Army, he joined Cazenove in 1986 and worked with private clients in London and Geneva.  He then moved to UBS Warburg in 1990 working in London and Singapore specialising in Asian investments, rising to the position of Executive Director.  Now living near to Kirkby Lonsdale, he joined BAM in 2002 and was appointed a Director in 2005.

Hugo Pring, BSc (Director)  was born in 1963 and read Economics & Statistics at Exeter University before joining Johnson Fry in 1986. Subsequently he worked for Deloitte & Touche and HSBC Gibbs (where he sat on HSBC Midland’s Private Banking’s investment committee) before joining BAM in 1998, becoming a Director in 2002.  He is also a Director of WH Brakspear & Sons plc of Henley on Thames.  Hugo lives in Kirkby Lonsdale.

Alan White, MBCS, MCR (Director, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer)  was born in 1949. Before joining BAM in 1997 he ran his own Information Technology consultancy. He has over 35 years IT experience and has undertaken a wide range of major software development and consultancy projects within the financial services industry. He has developed IT courses and lectured in the UK, Europe and United States. He is also a Director of Abbey Web Services and of Executive & Office Services Ltd. Alan is Chairman of the Lakeland Sinfonia Concert Society and  lives in Yealand Conyers, Lancashire.

Jane Padgett, BA (Investment Manager)  was born in 1970 and was brought up in South Cumbria. She read Business Studies at Sheffield University before joining Guardian Royal Exchange in 1991. After initially qualifying as an Independent Financial Adviser she specialised in investment management and subsequently joined Clydesdale Bank where she managed their Manchester investment department. Jane joined BAM’s Kirkby Lonsdale office in 2005 and lives in Lancaster.

Paul Stevens, FSI (Investment Manager and Personal Injury specialist) was born in 1966 and was brought up in London. Paul has been an investment manager for over 14 years and before moving to Yorkshire in 2002 was with Laing & Cruickshank in the City. Prior to joining BAM’s Harrogate office, he worked for the investment division of Irwin Mitchell, a nationwide firm of solicitors, where he specialised in the investment management of large Personal Injury awards. Paul is a Fellow of the Securities Institute and a Trustee of the Emma Maltby Memorial Fund and lives in Yorkshire.

John Paul Thornber, FSI, Dip PFS (Investment Manager) was born in 1969 and gained a degree in English and Philosophy at Hull University. He has worked in financial services for over 13 years, spending nearly 10 with Manchester stockbrokers Pilling & Co. before joining BAM's Harrogate office in 2005. A native of Yorkshire, John is a Fellow of the Securities Institute and a Member of the Personal Finance Society.

Nick Levens  (Investment and Dealing Manager)  was born in Kendal in 1976 and started his career at Prolific Unit Trust Managers before moving to London to work with Henderson Investors.  Having returned to the area, he worked with Gerrards before joining BAM in 2002.

David Smith, MCP, MCDBA, MCSE (Operations / IT Manager) was born in 1954. David is an experienced and highly skilled Information Technology manager. After starting and running his own retail IT company in Lancaster for 13 years, he then ran an IT consultancy business before joining the well known Lancaster accountancy practice Lonsdale & Partners in 1998 to manage their IT systems services. He is a fully qualified Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, specializing in SQL, database design and applications programming. David is a Governor and Chairman of the PTA of Moorside School in Lancaster. He joined BAM in 2006 and lives with his family in Lancaster.

Rex Abbott (Office Manager) was born in 1947, qualifying as an associate member of the Institute of Bankers in 1968.  He is a former Area Manager for Barclays Bank and is well known in the south Cumbria and north Lancashire areas with wide ranging experience of all aspects of financial administration.
